SMASH EVERYTHING

GLASS CEILINGS, EXPECTATIONS, CULTURAL NORMS, A FEW WALLS? LET’S DO IT.

Welcome!

My name is Madison, I am 32 years old and moved my family back to New Hampshire after five years living in Texas. Five years; our first home purchased and sold, two kids later (4 & 2), many different versions of myself, new jobs, long distance friendships, now a new state and a new home to call our own.

The last 10 years have been quite the whirlwind. I started dating my now husband, got engaged, got married, added not one, but two Frenchie’s to the family. Traveled, A LOT. Moved 6 times, twice being cross-country. Been laid off, experienced multiple re-orgs. Changed jobs. Bought a house. Sold a house. Bought another house. Lived through a global pandemic, while pregnant. Gave birth to our miracle micro-preemie. Experienced a full term pregnancy with my son. Became a member of the two kid NICU club. Gone to therapy. Learned (still learning) to prioritize myself and slow down. And so much more.

To say life has had it’s ups and downs over the years is the understatement of the century. And if there’s anything I learned throughout each experience it’s that 1) I know a lot less than I thought I did 2) empathy is QUEEN 3) support does not = solutioning.

I don’t claim to know it all, but perhaps a bit more than I did yesterday. And in the hopes that I provide any bit of inspiration, guidance and/or a good laugh to anyone out there who may need it, I’ll consider this blog a success.

A Very New England Staycation: Home, Adventure, and Rediscovery

This summer marked our first full one back in New England and for our kids, their first true New England summer. When our daycare closed for a week, we decided to turn what could’ve been a logistical nightmare into something special: a staycation. No planes. No packing stress. Just us, our home base, and a…

A Year Without New Clothes

Eight months ago, I made a goal for myself: I wouldn’t buy new clothes for an entire year. How’s it going you ask? Well, while I haven’t totally kept my promise, I’ve only purchased six brand-new items. The rest? All consignment or thrifted or I simply didn’t buy. And honestly, it’s been the best decision.…
